Read it with my granddaughter.. it was very cute..the idea of a penguin dressing up for Halloween! The drawings were perfect.
The penguins are very cute, and so is the story. This is a good book for early elementary school students.
Cute story. Would be interested in more from the series. Reading the digital copy is annoying because the two page layout forces you to read it horizontal.
My grandson loves this. The phrase I most often hear after we have read it is "Read it again papa".

Colorful children's book about a penguin at Halloween time.
Dark colored words in a gray cloud make it difficult to read.
This one starts out when Tovi is searching for their pumpkin this year but spooky things happen.
Relatives are able to scare one another making this very funny and silly at times.
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.

The author, Janina Rossiter, has written a fun book about Halloween. Tovi, the penguin, was d3corating his home for Halloween. What he needed to com0lete the decorating was a pumpkin. He decided to go off to his Uncle Martin’s farm for a pumpkin. When he arrived he found some friends and Uncle Martin. And, in the pumpkin field wAs something else, maybe a scarecrow or maybe a ghost! When you read this book you will discover what other adventures Tovi runs into.
Adults will enjoy reading this book to their children. The children will enjoy all the antics of Tovi and his friends and Uncle Martin. The illustrations by the author, Janina Rossiter, are bright, vivid and colorful. They depict all the adventures of Tovi and his friends. The story has a lesson lea4ned, and that is a good thing,

Tovi the Penguin Goes Trick or Treating is a simple story but a fun one, where a penguin goes to a pumpkin farm to get a pumpkin for Halloween and discovers other penguins it knows are there too. It gets scared by a scarecrow and ends up wearing a sheet and accidentally scaring its friends. The farmer mocks the dumb penguins, but they something in store for him.
The illustrations are great and the author has taken the time to format this book properly so it takes up the entire Fire screen when held in landscape mode. You can't read the book in portrait. This means it displays like a hard copy picture book, with the pictures and text together on the one screen like they would appear in a physical picture book. So many self published picture books display like a mess, with words on one page and the picture on the next, only taking up a third of the screen and things like this so I always like to acknowledge authors who care about their readers enough to take the time to format the book like you read a normal hard copy book. Open with two pages. Unless you rip apart your physical picture books so you have just one page at a time, this is how everyone reads books and it should be the mandatory way any picture book that cost money to purchase should be.
This is a bit late for Halloween, but I thought I'd already posted my review. Sorry! This is another in the Tovi series, nearly all of which I've liked (of the ones I've read). I liked this one as well. Not only was it an amusing story which told an interesting tale, and only a wee bit scary, it was also beautifully-drawn and brilliantly-colored by the author herself.
One of the delights is that it was legible on a smart phone so you can access it anywhere, and the double-page spreads, which all-too-often in the non-print version are given short shrift and end-up chopped into individual pages, thereby losing the sweep of the double image, were maintained here, and they looked gorgeous. I fully recommend this, not just for next Halloween, but for any time you want to curl up with your kid and a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy a warm tail!
